prairie bodies is about human beings and their relationship to the earth; they are created from it at birth, alter it in life, and eventually become it in death. This cycle is captured through the experience of multiple hand-built stick and rock body forms, which were placed in nature and photographed over a span of three months. As they weathered from wind, rain, animals, and plant growth, the bodies seemed to “die” while actively being consumed by the earth — becoming less and less recognizable as human forms with every passing day. In this way, the line between animate (human) and inanimate (nature) is blurred, and prairie bodies simply asks why there is a line at all.
